Firefighters battle flames at apartment building

Savannah fire investigators are looking at what caused a fire at an apartment building on the city's east side late Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 11:45 a.m. to the Presidential Plaza apartment community, and they could see smoke rising from the roof of a maintenance facility, according to Savannah Fire and Emergency Services.

It appears the fire started in the office area of the maintenance facility and spread up a wall into the attic, according to SFES. The flames were contained to those two areas of the building, but the rest of the facility had smoke and water damage.

No apartments in the community were affected by the fire, according to SFES.

No one was injured.
