Red Cross volunteers deployed to Metter wildfire

METTER, GA (WTOC) - Volunteers with the Red Cross Disaster Action Team from Bulloch County and Savannah are headed to Metter to help those fighting a wildfire.

They were dispatched at about 3 p.m. Thursday. Sixteen acres have burned. Forestry officials say the fire is under control  and that they are in the mopping up stages.

The American Red Cross deployed an Emergency Response Vehicle from Bulloch County with two  volunteers; and an Emergency Response Vehicle from Savannah with two volunteers and the Red Cross Emergency Services Program Manager.
