US Air Force celebrates its 64th birthday!

POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

One branch of the military celebrated a big anniversary, the United States Air Force turned 64 years old on Saturday!

So, of course, folks out at the Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum threw a special party.

The Coastal Amateur Radio Society operated a radio station from the compartment of the restored B-17 "city of Savannah" bomber!

The group used a combination of modern and World War Two era radio gear to communicate.

They made contact with other HAM operators from around the world to celebrate the Air Force's big day.
