Twenty-five teachers from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System will take part in an interactive conference this fall.
Details of the Geekend conference were announced during a news conference Tuesday morning.
The program exposes teachers to the latest technology that can be applied to the classroom. One middle or high school teacher from each SCCPSS school will be selected to attend the conference.
"Text books are a thing of the past and that's one of the real challenges that we have with our public and that is to teach mom and dad that all of the knowledge today can be learned with technology without any paper products whatsoever," said Superintendent Dr. Thomas Lockamy Jr.
Geekend will be held Nov. 10 to 12 in Savannah.
