SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A homeless man whose body was found Sunday in a Savannah canal has been identified, but autopsy results were inconclusive, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.
The body of Joseph William Sullivan, 39, was identified through his fingerprints on Monday. His body was spotted by college students about 2:30 p.m. Sunday near West Oglethorpe Avenue and West Boundary Street.
Downtown Precinct officers that arrived at the scene recognized him as a homeless man they had seen in the area.
SCMPD Criminal Investigations Division detectives continue to investigate the death of the man who originally was from Florida.
