AASU nursing students give breast cancer awareness presentation

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

As the month of October approaches, so does Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Nursing students from Armstrong Atlantic State University set up at the Habersham YMCA to give women examinations and to explain what to watch for. It is all about catching the disease early, before it gets out of control.

"Early detection leads to early diagnosis and hopefully a less invasive cancer," said Sonya Lumpkin, AASU, Community Health.

Along with the presentation, everyone who attended the event received a take home kit for self examinations.
