One of the world's best weapons is getting better. Hunter Army Airfield aviators are flying a new Apache Longbow at Fort Stewart. Members of the 1-3 Aviation Battalion have spent the past week at Fort Stewart. They're flying the new Longbows for their annual certification.
Aviators say the longbow helped them gain victory in Operation Iraqi Freedom. "They essentially look the same as their predecessors which were turned in for these," said Maj. Dave Rude. "However, these have an enhanced navigation and communications package to provide increased lethality on the battlefield."
The battalion returned from Iraq in July.
