Buckle Up South Carolina

The department of public safety is encouraging drivers to wear their safety belts with a new campaign. Through law enforcement's Buckle Up South Carolina contest, drivers who sign a pledge to wear their safety belts and properly belt their children are entered in a contest to win one of two recreational vehicles. The contest is targeting 16- to 34-year-old males in the hopes of saving lives.

"In regards to highway fatalities, roughly half are unbelted and are usually either partially ejected or they suffer internal injuries as a result of being thrown around the passenger compartment," said LCpl. Paul Brouthers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

All South Carolina drivers can make the pledge and register to win at any Chick-Fil-A restaurant, Young's food stores, or Little Cricket food stores. You can also register online.
