Savannah Folk Music Festival kicks off next week

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah Folk Music Festival runs from Oct. 7 to Oct. 9.

The festival kicks off 7 p.m. Friday in Ellis Square with Folkfest, which showcases Savannah Folk Music Society members. If it rains, the event will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 225 W. President St. on Telfair Square.

The performances that will range from Traditional, Old Time, Blues, International, Folk Revival and Contemporary music.

Friday's schedule:

Fourteen guitars, donated by the Gretsch Foundation will go up for silent auction during the festival. They have been painted, carved and sculpted by Savannah artists. The Gretsch Art Guitar exhibit is viewable until Oct. 7 at the Ellis Square Visitor Center.

A brand-new playable Gretsch guitar, which was signed by all performers at the Sunday concert, will also be auctioned off Oct. 9 at Forsyth Park

A painting donated by Mr & Mrs Harvey Weitz will on display throughout the weekend and will be part of the silent auction.
