LONG CO., GA (WTOC) - Georgia Forestry Commission chief ranger Byron Haire confirmed a large brush fire was burning Saturday in northwest Long County near Ga Highway 196 and Timesaver Rd.
Black smoke filled the sky over Waldan Farms. They believe the fire was sparked by a hay baler. It quickly spread, burning close to 100 acres.
The Long County Volunteer Fire Department set up a command post at a church near the site. They said the fire was mostly contained.
No word if any homes or buildings were in the path of the fire.
