Crime scene taped blocked off the intersection of West 42nd Street and Montgomery Street, as a large crowd of curious people gathered. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police were called to a home in the 300 block of West 42nd Street where they found Dejuana Cawley, 34, dead.
Ted "Barnyard" of Savannah said, "I saw her last night by the club and she was alright when I talked to her."
But in the hours following, investigators say Cooley was fatally shot. Her daughter, Tynika Cooley, doesn't understand why.
"She was a sweet person. She wouldn't harm anybody. It's too hard for me," said Cooley.
It's also hard for everyone else who lives in the community, as there has been three other shooting in the area so far this year.
"We buried my nephew last Saturday, Pooch, who was killed in the rooming house on West 41st Street, and then there was a killing at the club a few days ago. I don't know what's going on here," said "Barnyard".
As the investigation continues, Cooley's family is asking anyone who knows anything to come forward.
"I just want whoever knows or whoever did this to just come forward. Just come forward," said Cooley.
