TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - Some four-legged friends were feeling a little more blessed Sunday night.
All Saints' Episcopal Church on Tybee Island held their annual Animal Blessing event Sunday afternoon. Several furry guys attended the service which included scripture reading, a performance by the Savannah Children's Choir and a prayer of blessing for the animals.
"The feast day of St. Francis sort of inspires this practice for us to take time to give thanks to the creatures that surround us and for the natural world and also ask specials prayers of blessing on the animals that bring much joy to our lives," said Rev. Helen White.
St. Francis is the patron saint of animals and ecology. Certificates and treats were also handed out for the pets and their owners.
