Purple ribbons to mark start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Safe Shelter is inviting everyone to wear something purple on Monday for the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Volunteers will join Safe Shelter to tie purple ribbons around trees on the perimeter of Forsyth Park on Monday morning to mark the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

On Oct. 22, Safe Shelter is hosting a 5K Journey To Peace: 5k Domestic Violence Awareness Walk on Tybee Island. The walk begins at 9 a.m.  

On Oct. 28, Safe Shelter is holding a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. at the bandshell at Forsyth Park.

Safe Shelter is a United Way agency that is dedicated to helping women and children get out of dangerous situations. For more information call 912.629.8888.
