STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Two Statesboro men were arrested Saturday another man after an armed robbery at the Food and Gas Convenience Store.

Bulloch County sheriff's deputies were called at about 3:48 p.m. Saturday to the store at 17899 U.S. 301 in Statesboro on a report of an armed robbery.

A man went into the store with what appeared to be a firearm and stole several hundred dollars the store's till and then ran from the store.

Witnesses told deputies that the man got into an Chevrolet El Camino, which sped away from the area. An alert was then issued for the vehicle, which was spotted shortly thereafter by Georgia State Patrol Trooper Trey Miller on Mikell Street in Statesboro.

The two men in the vehicle, Hayward Arthur Fields Jr., 19, and Xzavier Juwan Lanier, 20, were detained. Less than 1 oz. of marijuana was also found inside car, according to the sheriff's office.

Fields was charged with one count of armed robbery. Lanier was charged with one count of possession of marijuana.

Brett Alexander Thomas, 38, is wanted on charges of providing false information to deputies during the course of the armed robbery investigation and one count of parole violation.
