Widow of recent shooting victim speaks out

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Words can't explain what Javonna Wade and her family have been going through since her husband of 13 years, Kevin Wade, was shot to death.

"It just seems like it's so unreal. Everyday I wish that I'm dreaming," said Wade.

Kevin Wade was shot three times in the head outside Mr. Wonderful's. The lounge's co-owner leaves behind not only his wife, but nine children between the ages of 21 and two, one of whom is disabled.

"He was all that we had as a family. I lost my mom. I lost my dad," said Wade.

Unfortunately the Wades are not the only family to become victims of such violent crimes. Sunday, Savannah-Chatham Metro Police found Dejuana Cawley, 34, fatally shot on the porch of a home near the Montgomery and West 42nd Streets intersection. And before that, two men were shot to death at Montgomery Street and West 41st Street. Four killings in a matter of three weeks, all in one neighborhood.

Now, Wade is left with only pictures of her husband and the unfilled wish he was still with her, saying, "If god could have given him to us paralyzed or handicapped, I would have taken care of him."

The Kevin Wade Memorial Fund has been set up at any Wells Fargo Bank for those who would like to donate to the Wade family.
