For a lot of us, holiday shopping means holiday shipping. Monday is expected to be the busiest mailing day of the year. The US Postal Service anticipates taking in more than 850 million packages nationwide, mostly because of the last-minute shoppers.
Your weekend is here and people are going to be home addressing their Christmas cards, and they're going to be at the malls buying all of their packages," said the post office's Sandy Moore. "They're going to get them ready to be going to the mail."
While there are no mailing deadlines, the postal service recommends mailing your packages by December 15. Priority and Express Mail can be dropped off as late as December 22. If you are hoping to send gifts to loved ones stationed overseas, today was the last day to guarantee Christmas delivery.
