RINCON, GA (WTOC) - A man faces several charges in connection with the robbery of a motel Tuesday morning.
Effingham County sheriff's deputies responded just after 4 a.m. Tuesday to the Microtel Inns & Suites at 6132 Ga. Highway 21 South on a report of a robbery.
Michael Pollett, 25, of Rincon, got into the hotel through an unsecured door armed with a large knife and a Taser, according to the sheriff's office.
Pollett went up to the clerk from behind her and Tased her several times on her forehead, according to the sheriff's office. The clerk was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
He left the motel with an undisclosed amount of money.
Deputies saturated the area. A deputy found Pollett in the Westwood Heights neighborhood, where he was arrested.
Pollett was in possession of a knife, Taser, and a large amount of cash when he was arrested, according to the sheriff's office.
Pollett was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. He is being held in the Effingham County Jail.
