PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) - Charges are pending against a man that led police on a dangerous chase through Chatham county It all ended around 3:30 Thursday morning, off Highway 21, right near I-95 in Port Wentworth.
Garden city police say they tried to stop a ford SUV, after running the license plate and finding out it was stolen.
The driver took off and authorities pursued the vehicle until just past Interstate 95 towards Port Wentworth.
During the chase, the driver started to veer into the oncoming traffic so Port Wentworth police utilized a pit manuever and were able to bring the vehicle to a stop.
The driver then took off on foot, but was quickly captured.
Two females were also in the car, but they were not taken into custody.
Authorities say the vehicle was stolen out of Savannah and the tag out of Glynn County.
The man is currently being booked into the Chatham County Jail. As soon as we have more information, we will bring you the latest online and on the air.
