HAZLEHURST, GA (WTOC) - A man charged with the slaying of a 15-year-old Hazlehurst boy is scheduled to appear before a judge Friday afternoon.
The body of Chandler Johnson was found this week. The Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office told WTOC the boy was found shot and they believe he was killed Sept. 25, the same day he went missing.
Deputies arrested 51-year-old James Carter and charged him with the murder of Chandler.
The sheriff's office said that Carter gave them information that led them to the body.
The Hazlehurst Police Chief said Carter confessed to the slaying and burying him near a cemetery.
Surveillance video from Chandler's home shows a red car that belongs to Carter. He was Johnson's mother's boyfriend.
Johnson's grandfather said he always thought Carter had something to do with the disappearance.
