SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - On Oct. 7, Chatham County Commission voted to put the Lake Mayer Community Park project on the Unfunded Capital Improvement Projects List. This means that they must wait until the project is a priority or until they have reached funding to take the next step.
Right now, the plan includes pickle ball courts, a skateboard park, dog park, pedestrian bridge, expanded playground, better drainage and more parking. The final plan might not include all of these features.
Commissioners believe the park will not only cater to Savannah residents but those in the surrounding communities.
"I think there is a certain draw because of its location," said Robert Drewry, Director of Public Works and Parks Services.
The commission says there is no time table right now for when the project will begin.
