SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Book Festival's closing Feb. 19 event with author Stephen King on is sold out.
The tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 3. By noon, all 1,200 tickets to the event had been sold, according to the Savannah College of Art & Design Box Office.
SCAD Box Office phones and staff were so busy that they opened another box office around the corner at the Lucas Theatre to accommodate the crowd.
Savannah Book Festival board president Stephanie Duttenhaver says, "The response to our Stephen King ticket sales has been unbelievable. We had King fans calling in from as far away as California, Arizona, Michigan, Massachusetts, Texas, Atlanta--even Canada and Germany. Clearly this Festival will bring in a significant number of out-of-town visitors who may be seeing Savannah for the very first time. How wonderful that their debut experience in Savannah will coincide with one of the world-class cultural events Savannah is so famous for. We're so grateful to Mr. King for his appearance at the Fifth Annual Savannah Book Festival, and we're delighted to host him and introduce him to our fair city," said Savannah Book Festival board president Stephanie Duttenhaver in a statement.
The Savannah Book Festival Inc. will take place Feb. 15 to 19 in and around Telfair Square in historic downtown Savannah. For more details call 912.598.4040 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
