SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - About 50 kindergarteners from Butler Elementary School visiting the Savannah Fire & Emergency Services' headquarters on Tuesday morning.
Firefighter Mark Hummeldorf showed children each piece of his protective clothing that firefighters wear, including the face mask and air tank.
Hummeldorf went through the building's second floor trap door and slid down the fire pole, according to SFES. Each child manned a fire hose with Hummeldorf at the controls.
The tour was part of more than 50 fire prevention and safety programs Savannah firefighters are presenting to students during October. They're also conducting fire prevention programs and stage apparatus displays during community events.
