The Richmond Hill Middle School plans to retire a flag Wednesday afternoon at its Homecoming Prep Rally.
The school will retire its flag that has been long housed in the school's gym. It will be replaced by a flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol building in honor of the students who attend the school.
The ceremony is part of the pep rally before the Wildcat football team's game against the Knights of William James. The pep rally starts at 1:30 p.m. at Wildcat Field, which is located behind the Richmond Hill High School on Harris Trail.
The ceremony was organized by the members of the Student Council. The eighth grade student representatives have secured the new flag, organized the flag burning ceremony, and have invited members of the Richmond Hill Junior ROTC unit to participate, according to the school.
Boy Scouts and local veterans will also be attending.
