Suspect fires shot during chase

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - A chase involving several police departments that went through several cities has ended Wednesday afternoon in west Savannah.

It began in Rincon. Officers there saw a suspicious vehicle near a bank and when they approached it, the car took off.

The car sped down Geogia Highway 21 through Rincon, Port Wentworth, and Garden City.

Sometime during the chase, one of the suspects leaned out of the car and shot at police car, which Rincon Police Chief Mike Bohannon was riding in.

Rincon police, Effingham County sheriff's deputies, Port Wentworth police, Garden City police and Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are all involved.

The chase ended at Augusta Avenue and Newell Street.
