SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Three men face charges after a high-speed chase that involved police departments from several jurisdictions.
Terry Barnard Bell Jr., 29, of Rincon, is charged with being a party to a crime (felony). Devante Hall, 19, of Savannah, is charged with being a party to a crime (felony). Lorenzo Lazant Hall, 34, of Savannah, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, driving while license is suspended/revoked and fleeing/eluding a police officer.
The chase started at about noon Wednesday in Rincon, where police saw a red Cadillac in an area where several burglaries have been reported. When police approached the Cadillac, those in the car showed a pistol and drove away, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.
The chase went into Port Wentworth, off Ga. Highway 21 and onto Augusta Avenue. That's where Rincon Police Chief Mike Bohannon saw one of the men lean out a window and fire a gunshot at his police car that was following behind.
Bohannon used a Pursuit Intervention Technique or PIT maneuver on the Cadillac near the vacant field, sending it sideways into the field. He then drove into the field and struck the Cadillac with his patrol car, according to SCMPD.
They're scheduled for their first appearance Friday morning in Effingham County, where they face a possibility of more charges.
