Woman held at gunpoint during home invasion

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - The second armed robbery in a week occurred Wednesday night at a Bluffton apartment complex.

Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Estates at Westbury Park at 100 Kensington Blvd. on a report of an armed robbery.

A 57-year old woman told deputies that she'd been robbed at gunpoint by four males.

She was watching TV when she heard a noise outside her apartment. Four men then burst through her door when she walked down the hallway to investigate.

A suspect with a handgun ordered the woman to her bedroom, where he forced her to lie on the floor with her face covered.

That suspect held her gunpoint, while the other suspects rummaged through the victim's apartment, according to the sheriff's office. Then they left. The victim was unharmed.

The only items reported stolen during the attack were the victim's driver's license and debit card.

The four suspects were described as light-skinned black males. They were all wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and had bandanas over their faces.

Investigators are considering whether the home invasion is connected with the similar armed robbery that happened Oct. 9 at another Westbury apartment.

The sheriff's office is urging residents to be watchful of and immediately report any suspicious people and activity. Those with information is asked to contact either Investigator Cpl. B. Cooler at 843.255.3423 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843.524.2777.
