Man charged with Jasper Co. triple fatal crash

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) - A man has been charged with felony DUI in connection with a crash that killed three people in Jasper County.

The wreck happened just after 8 p.m. Wednesday on US 321, 13 miles north of Ridgeland.

Freddie Scott, 62, of Pineland, SC, was driving south on US 601, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Scott made a left turn onto US 321 to go south, but was driving in the northbound lanes and struck a car that was driving south on US 601 by William Warren, 27, of Garnet, SC, according to the state patrol.

Warren; passenger Calvin Eady, 30, also of Garnet, SC; backseat passenger Barnard Washington, 39, of Beaufort; were killed in the crash.

Warren was wearing a seatbelt; his passengers were not, according to the state patrol.

More charges for Scott are pending. The highway patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is still investigating.
