Clyo man burned while working on car identified

CLYO, GA (WTOC) -

Deputies with the Effingham County Sheriff's Office believe that a man who was seriously burned while working on his car was accidental. 

Danny Smart, 53, of Clyo, was working on his vehicle at his home on Clyo–Kildare Road when something exploded and severely burned him.

He drove himself to the Clyo Fire Department off of Ga. 119, where emergency crews attempted to stabilize him, according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

Smart was taken by the Effingham County EMS to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office, where he was airlifted to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center.

    The City of Savannah has received the results of the survey regarding the Confederate Memorial standing in Forsyth Park.     The two passengers of the white sedan, an adult male and a small child, were airlifted to a trauma hospital in Savannah. Officials on scene confirmed that the child was not restrained in a car seat, and was not wearing a seatbelt.
