BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - A man was robbed and pistol whipped while walking home early Wednesday morning outside a Bluffton apartment complex.
At about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office met with 31-year-old man who said he had been robbed and assaulted at the Bluffton House apartments.
The man told deputies that was visiting a friend at Bluffton House, and had an alcoholic drink. He had shown his friend a large amount of cash that he had on him, according to the sheriff's office. The victim left his friend's house at about 2:30 a.m. to walk home.
While walking in the vicinity of the 2000 building at the rear of the Bluffton House complex, the man was approached by a black male with a pistol and demanded his money. The gunman hit the man in the head with the pistol several times, causing the victim to lose consciousness. When he regained consciousness, he discovered his cash and robbery suspect were gone.
The man walked home and passed out. He contacted authorities after he was discovered at home by his wife.
The suspect is described as a black male who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and is 25 to 30 years old.
