E-SPLOST pays for another school in Chatham County

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - E-splost dollars are hard at work as the Savannah Chatham School District celebrates yet another groundbreaking ceremony.

This time at the site of the new Gadsden Elementary School. Board members, dignitaries, and the elementary school choir took part in this mornings ceremony. The new 91,000 square foot facility will have state of the art equipment and will incorporate energy efficient concepts throughout the school. Principal Dr.Deborah Jones says she's so happy they are able to return back to the community.

"Since we will be returning to this location, parents will be able to come on a daily basis. We know education does not occur in a vacuum, it takes a community and school working together in order for our children to exceed standards. We are blessed in that we will be able to continue that,"said Jones.

The new school will open next Fall. Right now, the Gadsden students are in the old Pulaski Elementary school building off Montgomery, while their new school is being built.
