BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort National Cemetery is working to keep its historical integrity. An $851,000 preservation project to rebuild parts of the historic wall is set to begin this month.
Crews will work on damaged sections, repairing the foundation and mortar joint problems.
The wall is more than a century old and the cemetery is the final resting place for thousands of veterans and war casualties.
The work is expected to take four months to complete but will not impact visitors or traffic.
