SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - They usually help save lives by fighting fires, but one area crew used t-shirts to battle a deadly disease on Saturday.
Firefighters with the International Association of Firefighters, Union 574 were out in full force, selling pink shirts to support breast cancer awareness and research. They got such a great response the first time they held this sale, they decided to make it an annual event.
Michael Dodd of the International Association of Firefighters says, "it's a very rewarding feeling, the International Association of Firefighters, of 574, gives back to a number of charities through the course of the year but October is breast cancer awareness month so what we do is try to single out the charities, the charity obviouslly is breast cancer awareness."
If you couldn't make it out there this weekend, they'll be in City Market again next Saturday from one until six selling the t-shirts.
