SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Identity theft is becoming all too common but there is an easy way to avoid becoming a victim.
Make a point to shred any important documents with account numbers and other identifying features. To help keep your information safe the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Savannah and the Coastal Bank is holding a shredding even to get rid of personal papers. You can also bring in old cell phones to be recycled. They will be wiped clean to eliminate sensitive or personal information.
The event is Monday, Oct. 17, at the Coastal Bank's Stephenson Avenue office from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
