5K Run for Peace set for Nov. 11

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Capt. Matthew Freeman 5K Run for Peace will be part of the Veterans Day festivities in Richmond Hill.

It takes place at 9 a.m. Nov. 11 at J. F. Gregory Park.

Race packets that include T-shirts can be picked up from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov 9 and from 1 to 8 p.m. Nov 10 at 10393 Ford Ave. Bldg C Suite 10 in Richmond Hill.

Late registration runs from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The cost is $25 early registration and $30 race day.

The race benefits the Freeman Project, which is a non-profit organization to honor Marine Capt. Matthew Freeman who was killed August 2009 while serving in Afghanistan. The organization collects school supplies and shipping them to U.S. military units in Afghanistan and other war-torn counties for distribution by U.S. military personnel directly to the children themselves.
