Beaufort County parents are still fighting to keep their students in their current schools.
The issue is the closing of Shell Point Elementary and the moving of fifth-graders from Broad River Elementary to Robert Smalls Middle School.
Parents have fought since August . They're now taking their concerns to members of the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, which will have the final decision on the moves.
"A lot of us have the same concerns - the rezoning, the closing of shell point. It's a very productive school. Why is it being closed? Why were new schools opened when, you know. And in the following years, other schools closed. It didn't make sense to us. We know OCR has a big impact on the decisions that are made. Once Beaufort makes a decision here at the local level," said Theresa Van Dam of Beaufort.
The Office of Civil Rights did not make a decision at Monday night's meeting.
