There's big news about the Truman Parkway: work can proceed at the Montgomery Cross Road off ramp. Residents and various organizations in the Sandfly area stopped construction when they filed an injunction, citing environmental concerns, and it delayed that part of the project for months.
Today, the federal court threw out their case for good, dismissing it completely. It's welcome news to those who want to see the parkway completed. "I think the next step is just to start work, get this thing moving so it can finally be a usable road," said Chatham County attorney Jonathan Hart.
If Sandfly organizations decide to appeal, the county attorney tells WTOC they will ask them to post bond to cover the cost of delaying construction. The cost of footing that bill would be well more than $1 million.
