Trial begins for two men accused of killing a SCAD student

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Trial is underway for two of the three men accused of killing a Savannah College of Art and Design student in October 2010.

Alex Cowart and John Adams are accused of felony murder, among other charges, in connection with the shooting death of Sean Giroir, 20. The trial began Tuesday morning with opening arguments, followed by several witnesses. One of witnesses, Miles Anton, says he was in the home at the time the men allegedly invaded the home.

Anton said, "He [one of the suspects] at that point pushed him [one of the victims] in the kitchen and I could see where they were and he [suspect] made him [victim] get down on his knees. And he was saying he was going to kill him if he did not give him his [expletive]."

Attorneys for Cowart and Adams are claiming the two have been wrongfully accused after a third suspect, Daniel Izzo, changed his story to face a lesser charge. Izzo is expected to testify against both Cowart and Adams.
