SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Cheerleaders were pepping up the Beach High School student body on Oct. 18, getting everybody excited about reading. The school put on a celebration to show parents and students about their reading initiative designed to get more students into college and beyond.
"Here at Beach High School, we want our students reading more, comprehending more, and having a higher vocabulary. The best way to do that is to open a book and read it," said Derrick Muhammad, Beach High School principal.
The school plans to designate 20 minutes each Tuesday for personal reading time.
