Police Bust Suspected Chop Shop

Savannah-Chatham police hit a house at 39th and Bulloch Streets and found cars, all kinds of car parts, and electronic equipment in the drive and the otherwise vacant lot next door. They say it's a chop shop. Investigators say they were stripping the cars and selling the parts.

"We've got one vehicle that was stolen four days ago, and they were already in the act of stripping it," police spokesman Bucky Burnsed told us. "There was another vehicle that isn't reported stolen at all. It's just missing and will probably never be reported stolen, but they've taken the parts off. And there's several engines back there. There's even a vehicle that's got one door left."

Officers arrested 31-year-old Robert Leeks, and they're looking for a second suspect.
