Miss Savannah Update

Miss Savannah remains behind bars today after being formally charged with murder in the shooting death of Kevin Shorter. Just after Sharron Nicole Redmond's hearing yesterday, her attorney asked the court to post bail, effectively releasing her until trial. She had to undergo a psychological evaluation before they court could grant bail. But, so far, the court has not responded.

"It will be up to the superior court whether or not they'd grant her bail, if they grant her bail then hopefully she'll be released immediately," said Michael Schiavone, Redmond's attorney. "Then she'd be allowed to remain free pending final resolution of the case down the road."

Nikki Redmond turned herself in to police this past Saturday after she shot and killed her boyfriend, Kevin Shorter. She's claiming self-defense after the two got into an argument at another woman's house.

Redmond's next preliminary hearing will be in January.
