City Market Shooting

Update: Police have identified the victim as 25-year-old Jarrett Knight of Savannah. His injuries are not life-threatening, according to detectives.

Savannah-Chatham police are investigating the shooting of a young man in the City Market area overnight. Just before 3am this morning, police were notified of a man down in the parking lot behind Malone's bar off Congress Street. The first officers to arrive found a young man suffering from at least three gunshot wounds.

Some of the people from Malone's administered first aid until an ambulance could arrive. They rushed the victim to Memorial Health.

Shortly before the victim was found, police had received a number of calls reporting the sound of gunfire and at least two cars speeding south on MLK Boulevard. One of the cars hit three other vehicles but kept going.

Police are now trying to determine if the men in the cars are suspects in the shooting. At last report the shooting victim was being taken to surgery to repair a torn artery in his leg.
