SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - More than 500 Armstrong Atlantic State University students volunteered for the biannual Treasure Savannah Day of Service Oct. 21. Students, faculty, staff and alumni provided community service at a dozen nonprofit organizations across the region.
Donning green t-shirts, the group helped with painting, sprucing up and gardening at places like Lake Mayer, Ronald McDonald House and Union Mission. More than 100 volunteers helped with the clean up and fall planting at the West Broad St. YMCA. They also provided service at Ambuc Park, Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah Urban Garden Alliance, Southside Fire Department, and others.
The event also involved a food drive that benefited the Second Harvest Food Back.
