The usual half time show takes center stage

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The usual half time show took center stage at Memorial Stadium Sunday afternoon at the 12th annual "Jamboree of Bands" highlighting local marching bands, including Savannah High, Beach, Jenkins, and Johnson High Schools. As well as several area colleges.

Hundreds turned out to watch.

Band director, Marvin Johnson says, "we just don't hold instruments, and we just don't march up and down the field, there's musicality going on, there's precision going on and there's dedication to programs going on."

Among the performers, Florida A&M University's "Marching 100" who have also played at the Grammy's, Superbowls, as well as presidential inaugural parades.

    The City of Savannah has received the results of the survey regarding the Confederate Memorial standing in Forsyth Park. Citizens were able to comment on the city council's decision to potentially re-purpose the monument, a decision that came shortly after one woman was killed in protests surrounding a statue of Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville.

    The two passengers of the white sedan, an adult male and a small child, were airlifted to a trauma hospital in Savannah. Officials on scene confirmed that the child was not restrained in a car seat, and was not wearing a seatbelt.
