A man is recovering from a gunshot wound he received during an overnight carjacking. Two men were stopped at the light at West Bay and Fahm Streets about 2am this morning when they tell police three men approached the truck they were in and demanded they get out.
One of the suspects pulled a gun and while the passenger was fighting with one, the gunman fired a shot, hitting the driver of the truck in the head. Fortunately, the bullet only grazed him and he did not require hospitalization.
After the shooting, the suspects took the truck and headed east on Bay. The vehicle was equipped with OnStar, and about 45 minutes later, Garden City officers spotted it getting onto Bay Street.
The driver refused to stop and lost control of the truck at Augusta and Ferrill. It crashed through a fence and the suspects fled.
The owner of the truck was notified of the recovery. Police are still searching for the suspects.
