Hometown Hero--Frances Rudikoff

Frances Rudikoff Frances Rudikoff

Would you sacrifice time out of your holiday to let someone else spend it with their family? Many people did just that on Christmas. One of those volunteers was Frances Rudikoff, who spent Christmas Day answering phones at Memorial Health. Hospitals can't shut down for the holidays, so volunteers like Rudikoff give up their time so others can celebrate Christmas with their families.

Rudikoff is part of the Jewish Federation's Trading Places program and has volunteered her services for the last 15 years for free on Christmas Day. "I do this every year," she said. "Working with mothers and babies this time, it's a lot of fun."

Even though it was the middle of Chanukah, Rudikoff says knowing someone is able to spend the holidays away from work is rewarding. "This is a gift to me, being able to help to do this for someone," she said.

Frances Rudikoff, this week's WTOC Hometown Hero.
