NAACP to hold ESPLOST meeting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah Branch NAACP's Economic Development and Political Action Committees are hosting an informational meeting about the Education Special Local Option Sales Tax and to consider whether or not to extend it.

ESPLOST is a referendum item on the Nov. 8 ballot.

The conversation will focus on future projects – how future funds will be spent, what projects will be anticipated, how minority participation will be achieved, and what the impact of ESPLOST funds will have on property millage rates if the extension is to pass, according to an NAACP news release.

Members of the school board and administration have been invited to the meeting to answer questions and explain their positions on the ESPLOST extension.

The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. Oct. 30 at the St. Philip Monumental AME Church located at 1112 Jefferson St.
