SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Habersham YMCA is pitching in to help the cause for breast cancer awareness month. The Y went pink on Oct. 24. People came out dressed in their best pink attire for an afternoon of zumba. It was more than just a chance to exercise and have a good time, it was an opportunity to raise money and put it to use on site.
"We have a goal of $2,000. We have t-shirts, we have a raffle, and we're taking donations. We've also had the mobile mammography unit here all day, where we are able to allow women to have a mammogram who otherwise can't afford it. That's another reason we're raising money," said Lori Langston, Habersham YMCA membership director.
The mobile mammography truck was booked to capacity Oct. 24 with 28 patients taking advantage of the service. There were also several raffle prizes and giveaways.
