Local movie theaters raise money for the United Way

POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

On Oct. 25, a check for more than $8,500 was presented to the United Way. A few weeks ago, Stadium Cinemas in Pooler and Hinesville, along with area restaurants, took part in the 8th annual Film and Food for a Cause event. The businesses donated their sales to the United Way, as well as Bethesda Academy for Boys.

"It's really a testament to the good will and the caring power of the people of Pooler to come together to help people in our four counties," said Michael Atkins, United Way.

Hinesville Stadium Cinemas raised more than $5,500, while Pooler added the additional $3,000 to help folks in need who depend on the United Way.
