BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - Over the last decade, many of U.S. military men and women have served in Iraq and Afghanistan - and many have done multiple tours.
But freedom isn't free.
Many are fortunate to make it home, but some have another battle to fight as they recover from injuries. Lowcountry reporter Jaime Dailey has been following a Beaufort marine who is recovering after being severely injured in Iraq and now joins us live with his story.
It's been a rough road to recovery for Gunner Sgt. Pablo Barrios. He is a dedicated marine and father who was severely wounded about a year and a half ago during his fourth deployment in Iraq.
His road to recovery hasn't been easy. He's undergone 35 surgeries and intense physical therapy.
But it's how he's persevered through it all that really makes him so remarkable. Watch Back from the Battlefront tonight on THE News at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m.
