AAHOA presents checks to Salvation Army and USO

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The south east region of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association held a charitable golf tournament in September. More than 90 golfers took part in the event. They were able to raise enough money to donate $5,000 to two different charities, the Savannah wings of the Salvation Army and the USO.

"Our needs are just as great with all the troops that are coming home through the airport and through the dag. We need the money now. We spend, you know, 99 percent of what we bring in on our troops," said Ray Gaster, Chairman of USO Savannah.

"We were surprised. We were very pleased to be invited to come out here today and to receive these funds today," said Capt. Marion Platt III, Salvation Army Savannah Commanding Officer.

Both of the organizations will put the money to work right here in Savannah.
